Rev. Fred McKinley Shore age 93 went to be with the Lord surrounded by loving family Friday February 3, 2023 at his residence in State Road. Rev. Shore was born March 20, 1929 in Surry County to Coy Ernest Shore and Addie Kennedy Shore.
Rev. Shore was a member of Jonesville Church of God. He began working for the Town of Elkin at age 16. Then went to work at Chatham Manufacturing at age of 17 where he retired after 40 years of service. He also worked at Foothills Country Ham until age 84. Rev. Shore pastored 421 Tabernacle for several years. He helped establish and co-pastored Central Full Gospel Church. He loved his family and church family. He was a master gardener and loved to share his harvest with friends and family.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a son Dwight Shore; a daughter Carol Casstevens; a sister Louise Hodge; and a brother Billy Shore.
He is survived by his loving wife Naomi Shore of the home; three sisters Mary Harrison, Pauline Finney, and Barbara Finney; four grandchildren Amanda Rorrer, Angela Miller, Mark Goins and Melissa Mason; twelve great grandchildren and 9 great great grandchildren; two nephews and one niece.
A funeral service for Rev. Shore will be held Sunday February 5, 2023 at Central Full Gospel Church at 3:00 PM with Rev. Bobby Norman, Rev. Randall Money and Rev. Tommy Nixon officiating. The family will receive friends at 2:00 PM prior to the service.
The family would like to give special thanks to Mountain Valley Hospice for all their care and support. Thanks to friends, family and neighbors for calls, visits, errands, food and support. Most of all thanks for praying for us.
