In Loving Memory of Fred Vajen
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Fred Vajen, a beloved husband, father,
grandfather, brother, and friend. Fred, age 70, of Carleton, Michigan, formerly of Trenton, left us on
November 6th, 2023, surrounded by his cherished family.
Fred was born on August 18th, 1953, to the late Elmer and Mary Vajen. He was the loving husband of
Jacquelyn (Frost), a devoted father to Daniel and Emily (Jamey) Buckner, and a proud grandfather to
Brinley and Elle Buckner. He is also survived by his sister, Candace McLeod. In addition to his parents,
Fred was preceded in death by his sisters, Maryann Marks and Sue Wanat.
Fred's journey through life began at Trenton High School, where he graduated in 1972 and met the love
of his life, his high school sweetheart, Jackie. Following graduation, he embarked on a fulfilling career as
a journeyman electrician, starting at Chrysler Corporation and retiring in 2011. In 2013, he continued his
electrical career at Ford Motor Company, where he was currently employed at the time of his passing.
Fred was a man of diverse passions and interests. Throughout his life, he found joy in boating, fishing,
photography, landscaping, gardening, and woodworking. Among his proudest accomplishments was the
realization of his lifelong dream of building his own home, where he raised his loving family. He was
deeply involved in his children's lives, making it a priority to attend all their sporting events and
afterschool activities. In recent years, his greatest source of pride and joy came from his beloved
grandchildren.
A celebration of Fred's life will be held on Sunday, December 3rd, 2023, from 1:00 pm until the time of
the service at 2:00 pm at the Trenton Chapel - Martenson Family of Funeral Homes, located at 3200
West Rd, Trenton. Following the service, a luncheon will be held at Orlando's Banquet Center, situated
at 15001 Sibley Rd, Riverview.
Fred Vajen touched the hearts of many and will be dearly missed by all who had the privilege of knowing
him. His memory will forever live on in our hearts, and his legacy will continue to inspire us all.
