It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Freda Boggs, age 83, of South Whitley, Indiana. She left this world for her forever home on April 15, 2025, at 7:58 AM. She was at home, in a warm bed and surrounded by loving family.
Freda cherished her time with her family and friends. She touched many peoples lives. Many people who were friends came to be considered family.
Born to Weldon and Edith Minnix on January 7, 1942, in Jackson, Kentucky, she worked on her familys tobacco farm until age 12. She was also part of a gospel trio on Jackson radio with her sisters Fay and Maddie.
In 1955, at the age of 13, Freda moved with her family to Columbia City, Indiana. She then moved to Pierceton, Indiana. In 1975, she married the love of her life Kenneth Boggs.
Freda was a homemaker and wife to Kenneth Boggs, mother of 6, grandmother to 12, great grandmother of 23, and great-great grandmother to 3.
Freda was preceded in death by her parents, Weldon and Edith Minnix; husband, Kenneth R. Boggs; sons, Donald E. and William D. Boggs; siblings, Lloyd D. Minnix, Madeline Rhoades, Harold Minnix, Zula Fay Owens, Noah D. Minnix, Ralph Minnix and Carolyn G. Sapp; as well as many other family and friends who are all greatly missed.
Surviving are daughters, Loretta L. (Jan) Freel, Bobbie S. (Larry) Muncy, Donna J. Heiny, and Kelly R. Boggs; as well as siblings, Lowel T. Minnix, and Brenda K. (Wayne) Marsh.
Visitation will be held from 11:00 am - 1:00 pm, with funeral service at 1:00 pm on Saturday, April 19, 2025, at DeMoney Grimes Funeral Home, 600 Countryside Dr., Columbia City, Indiana.
