Lee H. Whaley, 91, of Columbia City, Indiana, passed away Wednesday, February 25, 2026. Born June 19, 1934, in Angola, Indiana, he was the son of the late Waldo and Helen (Hanson) Whaley.

He graduated from Central High School, Fort Wayne, Indiana with the Class of 1953. Lee was a member of the Army National Guard, 1952-1958. On June 6, 1954, he married Rosealene Farley in North Manchester, Indiana.

Lee worked at Kennedy Repair for 12 years and then went on to work at Omni Source (formerly known as Superior Scrap Metal) for 20 years, retiring in the mid 1990's. He is a member of Masonic Lodge #189, Mizpah Shriners in Columbia City, Pleasantview Church of Brethren in South Whitley, and Antique Power Club. He was a volunteer and chief at the Washington Township Fire Department, and was also a volunteer at the Big Piney Wyoming Volunteer Fire Dept.

Lee loved welding, learning at an early age. He loved telling stories of his life and work life. He drove truck for many years and enjoyed it entirely. He had an interest in flying, learning to fly from an officer while serving in the National Guard. Lee also enjoyed flying remote-controlled drones. He could strike up a conservation with anyone. He also enjoyed fishing. He was inquisitive about everything around him.

Lee is survived by his children, Vicky Camacho, Veryl (Debra) Whaley, LeAnna (Thomas) Andreas, and Charles (Vallerie) Whaley; nine grandchildren; and 20 great grandchildren. Along with his parents Lee was preceded in death by his wife, Rosealene Whaley.

A Celebration of Life for family and friends to gather will be held at a later date. A private placement of Lee's urn will be held at South Whitley Cemetery. Memorial donations may be given in memory of Lee to Masonic Lodge #189, Columbia City. Visit www.DeMoneyGrimes.com to send Lee's family online condolences or sign the online guest book.
