Freda "Doris" Hadley Moore passed from this life on February 1, 2025, at the age of 85.

A graveside service and interment are scheduled for Wednesday, February 5, 2025, 1:00 p.m. at Caddo Cemetery, Joshua, Texas. Funeral services are provided by Fry-Smith Funeral Home, Tuscola, Texas.

Freda Doris Hadley was born August 2, 1939, in Joshua, Texas to W. L. "Boss" and Mamie Jewel Hadley. She was the seventh of eight children. The oldest and only son, W. B. Hadley was killed in the Korean War, and that left seven sisters. One old minister who had visited in their area frequently as a child and adolescent said there was a Hadley girl for every age!

Early on, the Hadley family moved to a picturesque farm outside of Godley, and it is still known as Hadley Hill. All of us surviving grandchildren of the clan cherish the days spent together at the farm. It was indeed a center of family activity and shenanigans. Boss cussed and worried over everyone, and Mamie kept on quietly shelling peas on the porch. Doris did all her growing up there and it was always where she considered home. Only one sister, Greta Summerhill, survives now.

Doris attended and graduated from Godley Schools. While working at Walls Clothing factory in Cleburne she met a young man named Jerald Moore from Rio Vista. They married on March 9, 1960. Doris and Jerald produced three sons. They spent several years in Poolville, Texas. They entered ministry as pastor and wife of First Baptist Church, Poolville, then moved to Mertzon, Texas as pastor, later to Llano, and over to Tow where they retired for several years. In 2018 they relocated to Lawn, Texas to be near family and become members of Lawn Baptist Church, and they have recently resided in Abilene.

Doris was primarily a homemaker and pastor's wife, but she also worked lots of jobs to help fill the gaps. Her favorite work was as a ward clerk in St. John's hospital, San Angelo. If she had had opportunity to study and pursue medical work, she would have thrived at it. She became quick to diagnose all family members whether invited or not. Doris was known to the Hadley clan as Pee Wee for many years and is remembered as a caring and funny little sister and aunt to the many cousins. She had friends in lots of places, and we sons regret that we cannot get everyone together in one place for a send-off. Her faith sustained her through the struggles of aging, and we trust to meet again on the other side of the Jordan.

Doris is survived by her husband, Jerald, and three sons and daughters-in-law: Mark and Sandy Moore of Lawn, Monte and Debbie Moore of Reagan Wells, and Barry Moore and fiancé Karena Doss of Mertzon and San Angelo. Her cherished grandchildren are Jennifer DeWitt and husband John of San Antonio, Sarah Tate and husband Collin of Lawn, Kaleb Moore and wife Beatriz of Brazoria, Grace Moore currently at Texas Tech, Lubbock, and Jacob H. Moore and fiancé Dylan Schulze of San Angelo. Doris did get some time with four great-grandchildren: Theo Tate, Norah Tate, Josie DeWitt, and Juniper DeWitt. Doris often said to her grandkids, "Love you little. Love you big. Love you like a sugar pig."

In lieu of flowers the family recommends memorial gifts to Anderson House Pregnancy Resource Centers, 701 W Houston, Carrizo Springs, Tx 78834; or Lawn Baptist Building Fund,P.O. Box 1, Lawn, Tx 79530.
