Mrs. Freddie Mae Barrett Culpepper, 79, of Buena Vista, GA passed away at Miller County Hospital in Colquitt, GA on Friday, April 21, 2023. Funeral services will be held on Sunday, April 23, 2023 at 2:00 PM in the Chapel of Way-Watson Funeral Home, Buena Vista with Rev. David Chapman officiating. The family will greet friends on Saturday evening from 5:00-7:00 PM at Way-Watson Funeral Home, Buena Vista. Burial will follow in Tazewell Cemetery.
Mrs. Culpepper was born in Cusseta, GA on July 1, 1943 to Dewey and Charlie Ree Scott Barrett. She worked in the textile industry for many years before opening her own business, Culpepper Manufacturing where she worked on the square in Buena Vista before moving the business to her home. Mrs. Culpepper loved being outdoors, especially fishing, gardening, mowing grass and watching birds. She adored her family and spending time with them, especially her puppies. Mrs. Culpepper was most happy when she was helping others. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her siblings, James Barrett, Reba Lane, Ruby Austin, D.C. Barrett, Homer Barrett and two infant brothers.
Survivors include her husband of 63 years, Jimmy B. Culpepper, Sr. of Buena Vista; three children, Debbie Curths and her husband, David of Decatur, AL, Jimmy B. Culpepper, Jr and his companion Andrea Sweeten, and Penny King and her husband, Raymond of Ellerslie, GA; a sister, Faye Lane of Buena Vista; six grandchildren, Lauren Esslinger, Christy Beamon, Jenifer Adkins (John), Kevin Culpepper (Meagan), David Touchton (Kaila) and Daniel King; ten great-grandchildren, Everleigh, Sophia, Oden, Maleiah, Aydin, Chloe, Jase, Liam, Olivia and Oaklynn; her caregivers, Mae Nell Thomas and Katie Pursley; numerous nieces and nephews; and her beloved companions, Piper and Pepper.
