Philip W. Culpepper, a devoted husband, loving grandfather, and respected community member, passed away peacefully at his residence on Monday, March 16, 2026, at the age of 77. Born on May 11, 1948, in Delano, Tennessee, Philip's life was marked by unwavering dedication to his family, career, faith, and community.
A proud graduate of Polk County High School in the Class of 1966, Philip went on to serve his country with honor as a Vietnam Veteran, proudly dedicating four years of service in the United States Army. Following his military service, he embarked on a distinguished career as an engineer with CSX Railroad, where he worked diligently for 32 years before retiring.
Philip’s greatest joy in life was his family. He was married to Linda Campbell Culpepper for 58 cherished years, and together they shared countless memories built on love and mutual respect. Philip was an enthusiastic supporter and the biggest cheerleader of his grandchildren, embracing every activity and milestone with heartfelt pride and encouragement. He warmly leaves behind his son and daughter-in-law, Heath W. and Jill Culpepper; daughter and son-in-law Shea and Kevin Brown; grandchildren Taylor W. Culpepper and Selena, Kaytlin Atchley and her husband Zeke, and Campbell Brown; as well as great-grandchildren Wyatt W. Culpepper and Lyla Culpepper.
Philip’s faith was a cornerstone of his life. An ordained deacon of Wetmore Baptist Church, he devoted himself to serving his congregation and was an active church member until his later years at Shiloh Baptist Church. His dedication extended beyond the church walls; he worked closely with the youth, coaching little league football and baseball in Benton, and was a volunteer at the Benton Food Bank. Philip and Linda also shared a passion for camping, often enjoying the tranquility of nature together.
Preceded in death by his parents, Fred “Fronie” W. and Sevilla Culpepper; sister and brother-in-law, Judy and Jimmy Peden.
Memorial service will be held at 7:00 p.m., Thursday, March 19, 2026, in the chapel of Bordwine Funeral Home.
The family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Thursday prior to the service.
