Kenneth Culpepper Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Acree-Davis Funeral Home and Crematory on Feb. 25, 2026.
Mr. Kenneth Smith Culpepper, 90, of Toccoa, entered into the presence of his Lord and Savior on Monday, February 23, 2026, with his family by his side.

Born August 23, 1935, in Franklin County, he was the oldest son of Hoke Smith and Lina Blanche Ayers Culpepper. On November 25, 1955, he married his beautiful bride, Fannie Ruth Sosby Culpepper. They were married for 66 years, and together they built a legacy that will live on in their children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

Mr. Culpepper was employed with Toccoa Casket Company for a number of years and then with Coats and Clark where he retired with 20 years of service. He served in the U.S. Army Reserve and was a member of the Toccoa Masonic Lodge for over 50 years. Mr. Culpepper was a skilled and talented carpenter. He loved tending to his vegetable garden, golfing, and being called Dad and Papa.

He was a member of New Hope Baptist Church where he served as a deacon for many years, was a member of the Fulbright Sunday School Class, and the Adult Choir. Mr. Culpepper went on many mission trips where he used his carpentry skills to share the love of Jesus. He loved his church, church family, and most importantly, he loved God with all of his heart.

Mr. Culpepper is survived by his children and their spouses: Smitty (Renee') Culpepper, Debbie (Kent) Payne, and Tim (Elaine) Culpepper, all of Toccoa; six grandchildren and their spouses: Cory (Martha) Payne of Maysville, Morgan (Andy) Adams of Atlanta, Megan (Adam) Loudermilk of Baldwin, Amy (Brad) Howe of Toccoa, Carli (Marc) Jay of Winterville, and Collin (Kristen) Culpepper of Toccoa; and ten great-grandchildren: Maddie, Wyatt, and Rhett Jenkins of Maysville, Gracie and Paislee Howe of Toccoa, Cate and Aiden Smith Loudermilk of Baldwin, Addie Brownlee of Winterville, and Oakley and Oliver Culpepper of Toccoa. He is also survived by his brother David Culpepper of Carnesville, sisters-in-law Amelia Culpepper of Toccoa and Evelyn Sosby of Cornelia, along with a number of nieces, nephews, special friends and other relatives.

In addition to his parents and wife, Mr. Culpepper was preceded in death by his brother Calvin Culpepper, sister-in-law Betty Culpepper, brothers-in-law Jack and Robbie Sosby, and sister-in-law Joyce English.

Funeral services will be held at 3 O'clock P.M. on Sunday, March 1, 2026, at New Hope Baptist Church with the Reverend David Sosebee officiating. The following gentlemen will serve as pallbearers: Cory Payne, Collin Culpepper, Brad Howe, Andy Adams, Adam Loudermilk, and Marc Jay. New Hope Baptist Church Senior Saints will serve as honorary pallbearers.

The family will receive friends on Saturday, February 28, 2026, from 6-8 P.M. at Acree-Davis Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the New Hope Baptist Church Expansion Fund c/o New Hope Baptist Church 6731 Mize Road, Toccoa, Georgia 30577.

The family wishes to extend a special thank you to the staff of The Clary Center and Family Hospice for their care and compassion.

Interment will follow in the New Hope Baptist Church Cemetery with the Acree-Davis Funeral Home and Crematory in charge of the arrangements for Mr. Kenneth Smith Culpepper.
