Freddie Docken Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Hodge Funeral Home - Saint Maries on Jan. 2, 2026.
Leon "Freddie" Docken, 41, of Fernwood, Idaho, passed away on December 28, 2025. Freddie was born on November 30, 1984, in Butte, Montana, to Leon Docken and Lynn Walton.

Freddie grew up between Butte and Kalispell, Montana, before moving to Santa, Idaho, in the fourth grade. He attended school in St. Maries and later left high school during his eleventh-grade year to attend Job Corps, where he earned certifications in drywall and painting. Never one to shy away from hard work, Freddie spent several years logging with Fuller and Son Logging and later worked ranching in Cardwell, Montana.

On May 1, 2008, Freddie reconnected with his childhood friend, Randi Klimpel. He brought Randi back to Santa, Idaho, and the two were married on Becktel Mountain outside of Fernwood on June 9, 2009. They made their home in Butte and later Columbus, Montana, where Freddie worked as a mechanic-something he loved far more than just as a job. He had a passion for cars and trucks, especially his pride and joy, "Goldie."

In 2023, Freddie and his family returned to Fernwood and settled on family property. He went to work for Potlatch as a forklift operator, a role he took pride in and worked hard at.

Freddie loved being outdoors. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, shed hunting, picking huckleberries and mushrooms, camping, hiking, and just spending time in the woods. He also loved working with wood, tinkering on projects, and fixing anything he could get his hands on. He was a true Jack of all Trades who could "MacGyver" just about anything. One of his favorite things was his tractor, which brought him a lot of joy.

More than anything, Freddie was known for his big heart. He would help anyone who needed it, never held a grudge, and was liked by everyone who knew him. He was a devoted husband, a loving dad, and a proud brother, and his family always came first.

Freddie is survived by his wife, Randi Docken, at their home near Fernwood; his children, Andrew Docken of Spokane, Washington, and David Docken, Kristian Docken, Jeremy Ricketts, Harmonie Ricketts, Peyton Docken, Anthony Docken, Bean Docken, Austin Docken, and Timber Docken, all of Fernwood, Idaho; his parents, Leon Docken of Fernwood, Idaho, Lynn (Darcy) Murrieta of Idaho Falls, Idaho, and Betsy Hanson of Kalispell, Montana; his siblings, Luke (Jennie) Docken of St. Maries, Idaho, Anton Merrill of Idaho Falls, Idaho, Jamey (Josh) Jensen of Idaho Falls, Idaho, and Lane Docken of St. Maries, Idaho; his granddaughter, Havilah Docken; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Ellen Docken, Fred Docken, Carol Ekey, and Lawrence Walton; and his fathers-in-law, Steven Klimpel and Casey Caldwell.

A gathering to celebrate Freddie's life will be held later this summer, with details to be shared closer to the date.

Freddie was a co worker with me up in the yellowstone club,he gave everything he had to the crew and me and earned a place in our hearts. He had two horrible accidents and he fought and overcame them to continue providing for his family. Sadly he is gone too soon and was one of a kind person. I will never forget him.
