Freddie Gene Thornburg, 69, of Limestone, TN, passed away Wednesday, May 17, 2023. He was born May 10, 1954, to Johnny and Irene Thornburg. He was a master carpenter and woodworker for 50 years. Freddie was also a master artist with tile work, having worked on beautiful log homes and tile work across East Tennessee. Married for 52 years, he leaves behind a legacy of two children and four grandsons that were the light of his life,
He was preceded in death by his parents, Johnny and Irene Thornburg; brothers, Wayne Thornburg, James Thornburg, Paul Thornburg; and sister, Thelma Willis.
Freddie leaves behind his wife of 52 years, Diane Thornburg; daughter, Tammy Ellison; son-in-law, Luke Ellison; son, Ricky Thornburg; grandsons, Dalton and Blake Ellison, and Johnny and Ricky Jr. Thornburg; sister and brother-in-law, Betty and Cordell Fletcher; sister-in-law and brothers-in-law, Linda and Gary Silvers, Nola and Danny Jeffers, Retha Thornburg, and several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 4 to 6 p.m. on Sunday, May 21, 2023, at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Home, Fall Branch. The funeral service will follow at 6 p.m. with Pastor Scott Trent officiating.
Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. on Monday, May 22, 2023, at Oakland Cumberland Presbyterian Church Cemetery. Those wishing to attend are asked to gather at the cemetery by 10:45 a.m.
Pallbearers will be Ricky Thornburg, Ricky Thornburg, Jr., Johnny Thornburg, Luke Ellison, Kevin Shea, Gary Silvers; and honorary pallbearers, Blake Ellison and Dalton Ellison.
