Freaddrick "Freddy" Standley Jr. was born on March 16, 1951, to the late Freaddrick Standley Sr. and the late Beatrice Long. On January 12, 2026, Freddy peacefully departed this life at Lady of Lourdes Rehabilitation in
Pleasantville, NJ.
Freddy grew up in
Bridgeton, NJ, and attended Bridgeton High School. He later retired from Clement Pappas in Bridgeton after years of dedicated work. But Freddy's true legacy was not just in his career-it was in the love, laughter, and care he gave to everyone around him.
Freddy spent the majority of his life living with Robert and Anna McRae, helping to raise their children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews-touching four generations with his kindness and devotion. Though he never had paternal children of his own, Freddy became "Uncle Freddy" or "Uncle Remus" to countless family members and friends. His heart of gold and generous spirit made him a father figure to many.
Freddy had a deep love for music and could "carry a tune." He enjoyed sitting outside with a baby on his hip, his music speaker playing, a cigarette in hand, and scratch-offs nearby. He loved to dance and was famously comical with his many facial expressions. Family jokes like "Uncle Freddy hit the picket and buy me something!" and playful banter with his nephew-"Uncle Freddy, you are my big black bear!" to which Freddy replied, "Yeah, and you my gorilla for sale!"-will forever bring smiles to those who knew him.
We all agree that Uncle Freddy was that guy-loving, funny, and unforgettable. During football season, we'll still hear his voice cheering, "Eagles, Eagles, Go Birds, Go!" His memory will live on in every laugh, every song, and every family gathering.
Freaddrick was predeceased by his Father Freaddrick Standley Sr., his Mother Beatrice Long, his brother Henry Long, he leaves to cherish his memory: his brother Joseph Long of Bridgeton NJ, his brother James Long of New York, and his sister Darlene Long of Pennsylvania. The Mcrae, Hannah and Wynder family.
