Freddy L. Rugel was born on October 26, 1936, in Guayaquil, Ecuador, and passed away in Baltimore, Maryland, on November 9, 2025. A devoted husband, father, son, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and friend. Freddy was deeply loved by all who knew him.
He had a gift for making people feel seen, welcomed, and valued. His heart always belonged to his family, whom he cherished above all else. Freddy enjoyed sharing stories from his life, reminiscing about his favorite memories, and bringing joy to those around him.
Known for his kindness and warm spirit, he was truly one of the sweetest men you could ever meet. His presence left a lasting impression on countless lives, and his memory will continue to live on through every person he touched.
Freddy leaves behind a lifetime of beautiful memories in the hearts of all who crossed his path. Though he is gone, his love, wisdom, and gentle nature will never be forgotten.
Freddy is preceded by his parents, Leopoldo E. and Zoila Luz Rugel; and his son, Edison Rugel. He is survived by his wife Espana E. (Gonzalez) Rugel; his children, Janett Funsang (David) , Henry Rugel (Silvia) , Christian Rugel (Jamey) and Freddy Rugel ( Jaqueline) His grandchildren; Erika, Henry, Jr., Brian, Brandon, Antony, Lauren, CJ, Freddy, Ariana, Leonardo, and 14 great grandchildren.
Family and friends may visit at the KIRKLEY RUDDICK FUNERAL HOME on Friday, November 14th, 12pm - 2pm. Funeral service to follow immediately, 2pm. Interment Glen Haven Memorial Park.
