Freddy Runne, 81, of Briarcliff Manor, New York, passed away on August 13, 2024, surrounded by loved ones.
He was born on December 24, 1942, in Manhattan, New York, to Laine and Avo Runne. Fred grew up in the Bronx, New York and attended the Bronx High School of Science. He went on to later further his education at Iona College. He worked in the construction industry as a superintendent, including a project at the Transportation Hub under NY's Freedom Tower.
Fred married Elaine Abati in 1975 and they resided in Greenburgh and Armonk, New York. They had one daughter, Stephanie, married to Jason Pitofsky of Closter, New Jersey. He was blessed with two grandsons, Ryan, 12, and Matthew, 10. Fred was a devoted father and grandfather and loved them unconditionally.
Fred recently moved to The Club at Briarcliff Manor where he made many friends and lived a very fulfilling, active life. He was beloved by his family and friends and will be deeply missed.
We welcome all who knew Fred to join us in celebrating his life on Saturday, August 17, at Ballard-Durand Funeral Home, 2 Maple Avenue, White Plains, NY 10601. Guests will arrive at 10am and the service will begin at 10:30am. He will be interred at Ferncliff Cemetery in Hartsdale, NY immediately following.
In lieu of flowers, a donation can be made in Fred's name to the American Heart Association or the National Alliance on Mental Illness.
