Robert Kibort Obituary

Robert F. Kibort, 87, known to loved ones as Bob of New Hyde Park, Long Island, New York, passed away peacefully on February 7, 2026, from heart failure due to sepsis. A beloved husband, father, teacher, and friend, Bob will be remembered for his sharp wit, warm heart, and unwavering kindness.

Born on February 19, 1939, in the Bronx, New York, Bob was the son of a city that shaped his humor, intellect, and lifelong curiosity. A gifted student, he earned his bachelor's degree from Iona College before pursuing a master's degree from Fordham University. His passion for learning naturally led him to teaching, and he spent more than two decades as a dedicated mathematics teacher at PS45 Thomas Giordano Junior High School in the Bronx. Bob's students and colleagues alike admired his patience, his creativity in the classroom, and his ability to turn even the most challenging lessons into moments of laughter and discovery.

Beyond education, Bob was a natural entrepreneur and found joy in small business. Together with his wife, Elaine, he co-owned Elaine's Cards in Shoppers Village, Franklin Square. Following that, he ran a comic book and loose candy store in the same community for ten years - a venture that blended his love for storytelling, imagination, and connection.

Bob's leisure time was filled with pursuits that reflected his lively mind and sense of wonder. He was an avid crossword enthusiast, a devoted fan of television game shows, and a lifelong admirer of magic tricks. His humor and compassion brightened every room he entered, leaving a lasting imprint on all who knew him.

He is survived by his loving wife, Elaine Kibort, and his son, Anthony Kibort.

A service to celebrate Bob's life will be held on Sunday, February 15, from noon to 4 p.m. at Thomas F. Dalton Funeral Home, 125 Hillside Avenue, New Hyde Park, NY 11040.
