Frederic Joseph McSherry

Passed peacefully on Sunday March 19, 2023 after a brief illness. Fred was a beloved son, father, grandfather, great grandfather and brother. Besides family, his passion was sports from a very early age. He graduated from Mounds View High School and was a varsity member of the football, basketball and baseball teams for four years and named captain of all three sports in his senior year. He was voted to the all-conference and all-state teams in football as well as Homecoming King during his senior year. Fred also went to St. Cloud State University on a dual football and baseball scholarship. In 2007, he was inducted into the Mounds View Athletic Hall of Fame. Fred spent most of his career in insurance with Federated Mutual Insurance and then as the owner of his business as an independent carrier in St. Cloud MN. He is preceded in death by his son David, parents Jim and Mildred, and sister Michelle. He is survived by his children, Steve (Sheila), Marc (Ciara), Meagan, grandchildren Patrick (Victoria), Rachel, Christian, Shay, Cortney, Andrew, Connor, Ethan, Erinn, Kira, Ben, great-grandchildren Cecilia, Freya, daughter-in law Darla and sisters Mim, Sharon and Cindy. A celebration of his life will take place at the Huber Funeral Home in Eden Prairie on April 14th with a visitation at 6:00pm and memorial service at 6:30pm with an informal gathering afterward. Internment will be this summer on his birthday at St. John the Baptist Cemetery in New Brighton.
