Frederic C. "Freddy" Riter

Frederic C. "Freddy" Riter, 70, of Willoughby, passed away Thursday, May 23, 2024, at his home, with his family by his side, from a terminal illness.
Born Oct. 3, 1953, in Mt. Vernon, Ohio, Freddy grew up on a farm in Loundonville, next to the Mohican Forest. He attended Loundonville Schools from Kindergarten to 9th grade, then finished his last three years at Clearfork High School. After graduation, Freddy moved to Cleveland.
Freddy worked in the restaurant business for over 50 years at the Brown Derby, Terrace Room, Giovanni's, Moxie and Red the Steakhouse, serving high end customers and creating many friendships. He played the congos and percussion in a band called (Dysfunctional) for several years. He loved to cook and grow a garden full of vegetables. He would also sit at the lake and watch the waves and collect rocks. Freddy loved nothing more than to watch his grandchildren succeed in sports or to hear about academic achievements. Freddy had a great sense of humor and always had a good time, especially while listening to his favorite rock bands.
He was the loving father of Ember (Justin) Kucirek and Dionne Cline; cherished grandfather of three grandchildren; son of Martha Riter; brother of Larry (Karen) Riter, Karen Hay, and Aimee (Richard) Weemhoff; uncle of three nephews and five nieces; and cousin of many.
Freddy is preceded in death by his father, Bernard Riter and mother, Lois Riter.
There will be a Celebration of Life at a later date. Information will be sent out to family and friends.
