Frederick Simpson "Fred" Albritton

A Life Well Lived - May 27, 1928 - 12/27/2025
Frederick Simpson Albritton (aka) Fred or Mr. Fred passed away at home peacefully on December 27, 2025 at the age of 97 1/2. He was a man of quiet strength, dedication, and enduring love. He leaves behind a legacy that spans generations and two states he proudly called home, although he never forgot his roots in Franklinton, NC. Fred was born and raised in Franklinton, NC. He was the 9th child out of 10 born to Genevieve (Allen) and John Henry Albritton. Fred attended elementary and high school in Franklinton, NC. As a young man, before relocating to New York City, he had a great opportunity to work with
Mr. Joseph B.F. Cutchins, Sr., who was the owner of Franklin Funeral Home in Franklinton, NC.
The move to New York City defined the rest of Fred's life as he remained living in the city for the rest of his life. He worked several jobs before starting his career with the United States Post Office as a Mail Carrier. Some years later, he was promoted and worked at the Port Authority of NY/NJ as a Bridge & Tunnel Officer until his retirement in June 1995. For a long period of time, he was a faithful member of Prince Hall Masonic Lodge and was honored to achieve a coveted level of 32 nd Degree Mason and also a 33 rd Degree (Noble) of the Mystic Shrine.
At the heart of Fred's heart was his family. He shared a beautiful and life-long marriage with his beloved wife Lorraine (Kearney) who preceded him in death on January 6, 2015. Lorraine was also born, raised, and educated in Franklinton, NC. Together they built a foundation of faith and family in New York raising their four daughters who were the pride of his life. Brenda Davis (Ronald, Sr. deceased), Sibyl Wright (Elton), Wanda Brown (Marlon, Sr. deceased), and Carol Perez (Roberto). Fred was also the proud patriarch of a large family that includes 14 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren, and 13 great-great-grandchildren.
Fred Albritton will be greatly missed and loved by his family. He will always be remembered as a man of steady strength, determination and one who had a great sense of humor. He lived a long full life devoted to those he loved.
