Frederick "Fred" Allsopp, beloved father, grandfather, brother, and friend, passed away peacefully on September 22, 2025, at the age of 76.
Fred was born on April 18, 1949 to the late George Allsopp and Olga Allsopp (Hendrickson), and grew up in Plympton MA.
Fred was preceded in death by his sister Sandra Zentz, and his nieces, Melissa Alix and Brittany Allsopp. He is survived by his brother Alan Allsopp of Plympton; his sons, Wesley Allsopp and his wife Karen of Kingston, and Matthew Allsopp and his wife Renee of Fort Mill, South Carolina; and his four grandchildren Kyle Allsopp and his wife Kailey, Lindsay Allsopp, Luke Allsopp, and Matthew Allsopp Jr.
A graduate of Silver Lake High School, Fred enlisted in the United States Marine Corps in 1969. He served with honor in the Vietnam War and remained fiercely proud of his time in the Corps. His military service shaped his character and instilled in him a lifelong devotion to country, family, and integrity. Fred carried his Marine pride with him every day and had a deep respect for his fellow veterans.
After returning home, Fred began a long career as an auto mechanic, working at Marty's in Kingston and eventually opening his own repair shop, Capeway Transmissions in Kingston, where he specialized in repairing and rebuilding transmissions for over 25 years.
Fred remained committed to supporting fellow veterans throughout his life. He was devoted to causes such as the Wounded Warrior Project, Vietnam veterans' memorials, and other organizations that honored the sacrifices of service members. He believed deeply in remembering and honoring those who served, especially those who never made it home.
Visiting hours will be held on Thursday, October 2,, 2025, from 4PM to 7PM at Shepherd Funeral Home, located at 216 Main Street Kingston Massachusetts. Private burial with military honors will follow at Massachusetts National Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made in Fred's memory to the Wounded Warrior Project or The Vietnam Veterans Memorial Fund - causes that were close to his heart.
