Frederick Bergman Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Cavanagh Family Funeral Homes, Inc. & Private Crematory - Norwood on Mar. 12, 2026.
Frederick H. 'Fred' Bergman Jr., 70, of Holmes, passed away Tuesday, March 11, 2026 surrounded by the love of his family. He was a devoted father, grandfather, and friend whose kindness and passions touched many lives.

He was born July 29, 1955, he was the son of the late Frederick H. and Ida Louise (Andrews) Bergman.

Fred enjoyed all types of sports, but baseball held a special place in his heart. One of his greatest joys was coaching his son, Eric, and sharing his love of the game from the dugout and the field. Those memories remained among his proudest and most cherished.

Fred was also a dedicated caretaker of feral animals and a lifelong animal lover. His compassion for animals was well known, and he spent countless hours making sure they were cared for and fed.

In his later years, Fred found his happy place in Millsboro, Delaware, where he spent his summers along the Delaware Bay enjoying the peaceful surroundings and time by the water. Sharing those summers with his beloved wife, Patricia, whom he loved deeply, made them all the more meaningful.

Above all else, Fred loved spending time with his grandchildren, Benjamin and Theodore, who brought him immense pride and happiness. While our hearts are broken that he was unable to meet his granddaughter before his passing, we find comfort in believing he got to meet her before we did.

Fred will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all who knew him.

Rest easy, Pops. We will never forget you.

He is survived by his wife, Patricia (Hannigan) Bergman; a son Eric (Kaitlin) Bergman; two grandsons, Benjamin & Theodore Bergman with a granddaughter on the way in April; sisters in law, Kathy (Jim) Lange, Jean Marie (Larry) Poff and Gerri (Jim) Schinski and several nieces and nephews, including a cherished niece, Shannon Ladislaw.

Friends and relatives are invited to attend his memorial visitation on Wednesday, March 18, 2026 from 9:00-11:00 AM in Cavanagh Family Funeral Homes, 301 Chester Pike, Norwood, where a Celebration of his Life will be held at 11:00 AM. Interment will be private.
