William Louden Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Cavanagh Family Funeral Homes, Inc. & Private Crematory - Norwood on Mar. 9, 2026.
William George Louden

1933 - 2026

On March 5, 2026, William "Bill" G. Louden, a resident of Norwood PA, and formerly of Trainer PA, Prospect Park, PA and Tarpon Springs, FL passed away peacefully at his home. He was born and raised in Philadelphia, and after graduating from John Bartram High School, he proudly served in the United States Army from 1954 to 1956. Bill later spent nine years as a Merchant Marine with Atlantic Richfield. His professional career continued as an operator for Sun Oil, eventually retiring from Arco Research and Development in Newtown Square.

A devoted Catholic, Bill lived his faith through kindness and a steadfast moral compass while attending Resurrection of Our Lord Catholic Church in Chester, where Bill was a Eucharistic minister. He was a fan of both the Phillies and Eagles. Alongside his late wife, Sarah, he enjoyed many trips to Atlantic City, creating countless memories.

Bill was predeceased by his beloved wife, Sarah; his parents, John and Mary Louden; his brothers, Edward, Jack, and Gerald; and his stepson, Donald J. Mangan.

He is survived by his sister, Doris Zukowski; his stepsons, Timothy (Meghan), Patrick (Yvette), and Martin (Stacey) Mangan; His grandkids Sarah, Colleen, David, Kathleen, Jessica, Lorena, Bruno, Kamilla and three great-grandchildren. His niece, Joanne Wagner, to whom he asked to thank for all the help she gave them. Also survived by nieces and nephews, too many to mention.

Bill was a quiet man, one of very few words. But you could always count on what he said. A quote from Fr. Theodore says, "the best gift a father can give his children is to love their mother". Something he did every day during his marriage to Sarah. Her kids would like to thank him for everything he brought to our family. Bill was dearly loved and will be sadly missed.

Family and friends are invited to Bill's Funeral Mass starting at 10:30 on Monday March 16, 2026 at St. Gabriel Catholic Church, 233 Mohawk Ave., Norwood. Interment to follow in Lawn Croft Cemetery, Linwood.
