Frederick Eugene Certain

Frederick "Fred" Eugene Certain, Sr., 75, of Terre Haute passed away on Tuesday, January 13, 2026. He was born on July 13, 1949, in Terre Haute to Robert L. Certain and Martha Simmons Certain. Fred proudly served his county in the United States Navy. While in the Navy he was awarded the National Defense Service Medal. He loved the outdoors, enjoying hunting and fishing. Fred also enjoyed being on the CB radio, under the name Grizz. He loved talking with folks from all over. Fred was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. His absence will be forever missed by his family and friends.

He is survived by his wife Catherine Certain, whom he married on September 30, 1972; son Frederick Certain, Jr. (Candace), daughters Catherine Flint (Gerald), and Amy Certain; nine grandchildren, several great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren. Fred is preceded in death by his parents and brothers Bill, Bob, Dale, and Bruce.
