William Certain Obituary
The family will receive friends from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM on Friday, October 17, 2025 at Bratton Funeral Home, located at 1455 Filbert Hwy York, SC 29745. The funeral service will begin at 3:00 PM in the funeral home chapel with Pastor Billy Jarvis officiating. Burial will follow at Lakeview Memory Gardens in York, SC.
Ross was born on October 27, 1940 in Westminster, SC. He was the son of the late Relius Littleton Certain and Dura Nadine Glass Certain. He was the widower of Brenda Smith Certain. Ross was a veteran of the US ARMY having served in the Korean Conflict. He was an avid Clemson Tiger fan but his greatest joys came from his family including his cats. He will be deeply missed but forever loved.
Ross is survived by his children: Billy Ray Sigmon, Jr. (Sheryl), Terri Randle (Tony), Athena Chappell, Shane Sigmon (Connie), and Denise Crocker (Brian); and his daughter-in-law, Jennifer Certain. Also surviving are his grandchildren: Lisa Stewart, Heather Stewart, Matthew McCuen, John Randle, Ryan Randle, Zoe Chappell, Kathryn Certain, Savanna Sigmon, Ashley Booth, Nick Sigmon, and Scott Crocker; twenty-four great grandchildren; four great-great grandchildren; and his siblings, Peggy Luther, Sue Corn, and Bobbie Certain (Barbara).
In addition to his wife and parents, Ross was preceded in death by his son, William "Bill" Ross Certain, Jr., his son-in-law, John Chappell; and his siblings: Edward Certain, Wyly Certain, Junior Certain, Jimmy Certain, Estelle Abernathy, Evelyn Certain, and Wanda Jean Certain.
