James Hill Brooks

Mr. James (Jim) H. Brooks, age 86, of York, South Carolina, passed away on Sunday, March 8, 2026 at HarborChase of Riverwalk, in Rock Hill, SC.

The family will receive friends from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM on Friday, March 13, 2026 at Bratton Funeral Home, 1455 Filbert Hwy, York, SC 29745. A memorial service celebrating Jim's Heavenly homegoing and life will begin at 2:00 PM in the funeral home chapel with the Reverend Bruce Brooks and Tanner Howard officiating. Inurnment services will follow at Lakeview Memory Gardens with the Reverend Kenny Mckown officiating. Military Honors will be performed by VFW Post 12136 Honor Guard.

Jim was born on March 31, 1939 in Jasper, Georgia. He was the son of the late James Ray Brooks and Clara Wesbrook Brooks. Jim had a bachelor of science degree in forestry from the University of Georgia and worked as a professional forester for the state of S.C for over 30 years. Upon retirement, he worked as a professional forestry consultant. He was also a veteran of the US ARMY and loved to hunt and fish. He served his Lord Jesus Christ at First Baptist Church of York where he was a member for over 45 years teaching Sunday School and singing in the choir.

Jim is preceded in death by sister Maxine and brother-in-law J.W. and he is survived by his loving wife, Bobbie J. Brooks who he was married to for 62 years; his son, Bruce Z. Brooks (Sabrina) and his grandson, Zane P. Brooks. He is also survived by his siblings Keith Brooks (Robin), and Vivian M. Brooks along with numerous nieces and a nephew.
