Norma "Bagwell" Mowles

Norma Bagwell Mowles 92, passed away on Monday, March 9, 2026 at the home of her devoted brother Paul Bagwell in Sharon SC.

The family will receive friends at 2:00 pm at Hillcrest Baptist Church, 2020 Hillcrest Road, York SC, the service will be held at 3:00 pm on Sunday, March 15, 2026. Burial will follow at the church cemetery.

Born in Spartanburg, SC, Mrs. Mowles was the daughter of the late Boyce W. Bagwell and the late Hattie Kate Francis Bagwell. She was preceded in death by her husband Robert "Bob" Mowles and her brothers, Troy W. Bagwell, Oscar J. Bagwell, Ralph Bagwell, her sisters, Sunnie B. Brown, Mildred B. Mullinax and Katherine B. Knox.

She is survived by her brother Paul Bagwell of Sharon, SC and many loving nieces and nephews.

In her early years, Ms. Norma as she was affectionally known worked at TG& Y variety store in York SC. She later opened her own clothing store in Sharon that was quite successful, where she made many long and lasting friends young and old alike. Norma was a devoted Christian and loved the Lord with all of her heart. She loved her church and cherished her church family. She was loved in return by so many people. She often referred to the them as her children, many of whom she taught in Sunday School, setting a Christ like example for them to follow. She was very active and loved to travel, especially to the beach or mountains, ready to go in a minute's notice. She loved doing yard work and exercising. She made many wonderful friends at the "Y" and was the life of the party no matter the setting. She found great joy in simple things like weekly trips for lunch at McDonalds, trips to Hamrick's and her all time favorite sitting on her front porch with treasured friends watching the cars go by. She will be greatly missed and always fondly remembered. Her favorite bible verse is a testament to a life well lived:

Philippians 4:13

"I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me"
