Frederick J. Farland 78, passed away on Sunday, April 27, 2025, at West Shore Health Center in Warwick, RI. Born in Woonsocket, raised in Cumberland, he was a son of the late Albert and Mary (McLaughlin) Farland. He is also predeceased by his brother, James A. Farland of Riverside, RI.
In 2011 Fred made a promise of Oblation as a Layman Monk of the Benedictine Order. He dedicated his life to leading a more spiritual life of prayer, service, and good works leading to spiritual growth.
Fred worked in customer service for the Pawtucket Times for over three years. He was an alumnus of Johnson & Wales University where he received a bachelors degree. Fred was also a member of the National Federation of The Blind.
He is survived by a brother John D. Farland and his wife Suzanna of North Carolina, a sister Meg Menard and her husband Robert of Texas, and several nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews.
His funeral service with visitation will be held Saturday, May 3, 2025, from 10:30 AM - 12:00 PM at the Fournier & Fournier Funeral Home, 463 South Main St. Woonsocket. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers donations to a charity of your choice in memory of Fred would be appreciated.
