Fredrick William Heberling, age 75, of Toledo, Ohio, was called home to his Savior on June 13, 2025, after a long and courageous battle with Parkinson's disease. Fred was born on May 31, 1950, to William R. and Ruth M. (Nehring) Heberling. He was baptized and confirmed at Zion Lutheran Church in Toledo, Ohio-these faith milestones were just the beginning of a lifetime of faithful growth and service to the Lord. On July 16, 1977, he married the love of his life,
Linda Jean (Weigel) Heberling, with whom he shared many joyful years until her passing in 2020. Jesus Christ was Fred's foundation and he would always look to share the sure hope of eternal life through Jesus with others. Over the years, he had the opportunity to share his gifts and talents with several churches, including Resurrection Lutheran Church in Maumee, OH, a church where he and Linda were members in its early beginnings and blessed to help grow.
The open road brought Fred great joy. Whether racking up the miles in his own car to visit friends and family or exploring the country as a truck driver, he loved the journey. Over the course of his
career, he drove both straight trucks and semis, with his last position being at Gra-Bell. His career as a truck driver came to a close after an on-the-job injury, but the adventure of a road trip always held a special place in his heart.
Blessed with a sharp mind and quick wit, Fred loved to tease and always had a clever comeback ready. He enjoyed puzzles, board games and cards, and was a lifelong train enthusiast who built an elaborate model train table in his basement. A lover of music, there was always something playing in the background, and he often spent time creating MP3's to share with friends and family. More than just pastimes, his hobbies were a way to connect, laugh and make lifelong memories with friends and family.Fred was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, cousin and friend. He is survived by his son, Erik (Jolie) Heberling; grandchildren Elizabeth (15), Rachel (12), and Timothy (12) Heberling;sisters Lois (Joe) Young and Carole (Rich) Miller; nieces and nephews Shawn (Mallori) Weigel, Stephanie (Scott) Wolfram, and Shannon (Donald) Achey; cousin Tom Nehring and close friends Tim and Nancy Avery. He was preceded in death by his wife Linda, his brother Richard Heberling, and his parents.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, June 25, at Peace Lutheran Church, 5039 County Road G,Deshler, OH. It will begin at 10:00 a.m., followed by a funeral service at 11a.m. officiated by Pastor
Kurtis Freimuth. A private interment will take place later that afternoon at Toledo Memorial Cemetery. The family extends heartfelt thanks to all who visited, supported, and prayed for Fred during his illness. Through both joys and trials, Fred's life reflected the steady peace and strength that come from a life rooted in Christ. "I am the resurrection and the life. The one who believes in me will live, even though they die."– John 11:25 (NIV) Memorial contributions may be made to Peace Lutheran Church. Online condolences reebfuneralhone.com
