Frederick Huck Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Sunset Funeral Home, Cremation Center & Cemetery on Dec. 24, 2025.
Fred C. Huck, a cherished husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend, passed away peacefully Saturday December 20, 2025 at age 74.

Fred was born on May 25, 1951, in Evansville, IN. He was one of seven children of Victor and Carolyn Huck. He attended Reitz High School until he enlisted voluntarily at age 17 in the Marine Corps during the Vietnam War. Although he came home wounded, he was especially proud of his service to his Country as a Sergeant in the 1st Force Reconnaissance Company, 1st Marine Division, a special unit conducting deep recon missions and intelligence gathering. Their operations were often dangerous, requiring stealth, skill, and bravery.

He met and married Terry Reitz from Evansville, IN. They raised their two sons: Jason (Sami) Huck, Matthew (Abbey) Huck in Greencastle, IN. He was Pappy to three grandchildren: Kady, Carter, and Vivian. Fred and Terry were married 40 years.

Fred enjoyed raising his family, raising cattle on their farm, gardening, traveling, camping, his morning breakfast routine, and most of all spending time with family; sons, daughters-in-law, grandkids, siblings, nieces and nephews.

After home from the Vietnam War, he worked as a Union drywall finisher until retirement.

As we say goodbye to Fred C. Huck, we celebrate a life well-lived, a journey well-traveled, a legacy of love, and Service to his Country.

The family would like to thank Ascension St. Vincent Hospital Doctors and ICU nurses for their compassion and care.

The family will honor his wishes for a private family service and a future Celebration of Life gathering. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to a charity of your choice.
