A lifelong area resident he was born March 30, 1937 in Jamestown, the son of the late Samuel and Mary DeAngelis Marcello.

Fred was a 1957 graduate of Jamestown High School and was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving from 1960 to 1962 in Berlin, Germany. He served in the U.S. Army Reserves from 1962 to 1966. In earlier years Fred was employed by Jamestown Veneer & Plywood, Proto Tool, MRC-TRW, Bush Industries, Dahlstroms, Jamestown Public Schools, and Wal-Mart. He had also been the proprietor of James Market, the Vintage House Restaurant, and Hellmans Grocery. Prior to retirement, he was employed by Heritage Village.

He was a member of the Cassadaga American Legion Post, Lakewood Rod & Gun Club, and attended Park Methodist Church. Fred's hobbies consisted of restoring his 1964 Dodge Polara, going to classic and antique car shows, and collecting model trains. He enjoyed spending time with his family, woodworking, constructing bird houses, fishing, hunting, and cooking - especially anything from his Italian heritage. In earlier years he had raised homing pigeons, and had built and flown remote controlled airplanes.

Surviving is his wife Nancy C. Besides his parents he was preceded in death by two brothers: Frank Marcello and James Marcello; two sisters-in-law: Anna Marcello and Josephine Marcello; and brother-in-law Maynard Carlson. Fred was a true dog lover, and he was preceded by several of his beloved pets, including Bruno, Rudy, and Bailey.

The funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday in the Falconer Funeral Home. Rev. James D. Bailey retired pastor of Park Methodist Church will officiate. Burial will be in Valley View Cemetery, Ellington.
