Fredrick "Fred" McClain

April 18, 1933 – August 25, 2025

Fredrick "Fred" McClain peacefully passed away on August 25, 2025. Born on April 18, 1933, to the late Rebecca and Arthur McClain, Fred was the youngest of eight siblings, all of whom preceded him in death.

In June 1956, Fred married the original love of his life, Carol (Bowden) McClain. Carol also preceded him in death. Together, they shared 60 wonderful years filled with love, compassion, laughter, and joy.

Fred had a remarkable gift for making everyone feel instantly welcomed and loved.

Fred was a family man. His greatest joys in life were his children: Terri (McClain) White of Florida, Gary McClain of Alabama, and Brenda (McClain) Tetreault of Washington.

Nothing lit up his face more than talking about his four beloved grandchildren: Jaymie (Tetreault) Johnson, Jake White, Amber White, and Anna McClain. In 2024, he proudly became a Great-Grandfather- a role he embraced with pure excitement and love.

In later years, Fred found a loving companion in Rosie McKinney. To Fred, Rosie's family felt like part of his extended family. Over the last several years, Fred and Rosie created beautiful memories together-traveling to visit both of their extended families across the U.S., spending long afternoons by the pool, and bonding over their shared love of NASCAR.

Fred served in the United States Army (1951-1955). He was also a proud 32nd degree Mason. He spent his career at Penn Power and found an opportunity to work part-time with Woody Slater, combining his true passion for cars with hands-on experience. After retiring, he moved to Florida to enjoy fun in the sun. Fred worked at Disney in his retirement and took every advantage to entertain his family and friends.

He embraced life fully and left an enduring impression on those fortunate enough to know him. Fred was a great American. His life was dedicated to service ... to his country, community, and family. He did so with patience, compassion, and humor.

He will be sorely missed.

In keeping with Fred's wishes, there will be no calling hours or formal service.
