Today makes a year since you've been gone. Even though you're not here physically you are always watching over me in my thoughts every single day. Mom misses you more than you could ever imagine every single day. So I hope today of all days you watched over her for me. No matter where life takes me, I want you to know I'll carry everything you taught me in my heart always. I wish I could've spent more time with you when I had the chance. Just know I'll cherish every memory we did have together forever. You're my guardian angel, and I love you so much always Gramps<3 Rest In Peace

Dear Dad,
My heart is heavy today I miss you more than you will ever know.. I have celebrated all you left me in heart and mind this past year, its immeasurable... Some things you just don't figure out except with time..
Even your passing has offered growth, love and your everlasting presence in the heart mind and souls of those who love you. We are reminded regularly of the lessons you taught us just in the way you lived your life.. I know now never take anything for granted live in the moment and seize all the happiness you possibly can.
I often wish I had just one more day to show you what you mean to me.
I miss your phone calls and messages; saying Kid I haven't heard from you give me a call, now I cant....
Thanks for the signs and messages you have sent me since you passed I'm open to them and I know your still close watching out for all of us.. Especially the kids when Dalton was very ill and you let Tom and I know you were close and gave us strength.
I cherish all my memories and pray to the lord to keep them fresh in my mind heart and soul always..
God Bless Dad I know your at Eternal Peace in heaven and we will all be together again.
Love Always

Tribute written and read for you Daddy.
Good evening, please let me begin by thanking all of you here on behalf of my mother, my brother and myself, for your efforts large and small to be here today, to help us bless Dad's passing.
Each of you here had your own relationship, memories and your own word picture that describes our Dad. I don't presume to know the man you knew. But I do hope, in this eulogy I offer, you will recognize some part of the man that we all knew, the man who will never be gone until all of us here have passed.
Dad was born in 1942 to Alexandrina and Manual Mello the last born of seven children. He was the baby. He was doted on by his two older sisters Sadie and Emma so in essence he was privileged to have 3 moms. His brothers being older shared their memories of family history with him as well as reading him for life. Dad and his eldest brother Bo remained in Fall River and stood close to their roots all the days of their lives. Dad had a real strong sense of where he came from and told me more than once in life never forget that your beginnings are a great part of whom you are and who you will become. I've never forgotten....
Dad and mom met and married very young and to their tribute have been together for 54 yrs, which is quite something in itself. Loyalty is a trait they both hold dear to their heart and exhibited that throughout their life's. They had many years of happiness.
Dad was a very hard working man all his life; he strived for perfection in everything he did. To know Dad is to know a man driven by doing the right thing for his family, friends and anyone he encountered. Stubborn was his middle name he stood by his convictions adamantly. He offered his opinion quite freely and often, always with the best intentions.
Dad the consummate lecturer and teacher by nature taught both me and my brother the most important lessons and values which we both have carried throughout our lives. His mottos being; Do the right thing, never quit do your best, you won't look back and regret. When you think you don't have any strength left you feel weak and tired dig deeper there is always more. Dad lived by these values he passed with these values and they live on within me, my brother, my children and generations to come.
Dad taught me to love silently by doing rather than speaking, sometimes it's what you do not what you say that speaks loudest. He never gave up on anyone he loved or cared for, he always had faith. Since dad retired and had a moment to share with us his thoughts and reflections as of late; he emphasized to me take time for myself sometimes, its ok to dance in the rain, and wanted only true happiness and peace for his family..
I'd like to share a few sentences with you from an article my Grandma Mello saved some years ago, this short article that fell onto my lap 3 days ago from an old photo album I do believe everything has a time place and a purpose and I know she would love for me to share..
Quoted as follows; Father left integrity, honor and a love of the beautiful, for me to absorb into my heart. We can get very poor in material things, but remain rich in the things left behind by others that will forever mould our character. The great of this earth left more than money behind. They left examples of courage and the choicest of memories. God Bless you daddy forever and a day you left us rich of heart...
Love you forever
