Frederick Vincent "Fred" Mineo

Frederick Vincent "Fred" Mineo, age 75, of Gautier, Mississippi, passed away peacefully at his home on February 6, 2026, just five days before his 76th birthday.

Fred was born on February 11, 1950, in Quincy, Massachusetts, and spent his early years growing up in Rhode Island and Massachusetts. His career as an engineer later took him to Louisiana and eventually to Gautier, Mississippi, where he made his home, started his family, and built a life rooted in faith, love, and hard work. Fred dedicated nearly 30 years to Ingalls Shipbuilding, where he was known for his dedication and integrity. Though he took pride in his work, he firmly believed in working to live, not living to work-family and friends were always his top priority.

Fred was a devoted man of faith who loved God deeply and lived his life guided by that faith. He cherished his family above all else and was a loving and proud husband, father, and grandfather. His kindness, steady presence, and unconditional love were felt by everyone who knew him, especially his children and grandchildren, who were the greatest joys of his life.

Known for his humor and storytelling, Fred loved spending time with those he cared about-sharing stories, cracking jokes, and repeating his many well-known sayings. Whether calling someone a "pretty fart smeller" or joking, "on the other hand, I have four fingers and a thumb," he had a way of making people laugh and feel at ease. He will be remembered as kind, funny, and genuinely loved by all who knew him.

Fred was preceded in death by his parents, Frederick and Lois Mineo, and his brother, John "Jack" Mineo.

He is survived by his wife, Cindy Mineo; his children, Patrice Ross, Matthew Mineo, and Julia Bullock; his bonus children, Ashley Cary, Amy Cleveland, and Robert Adams; his siblings, David Mineo, Scott Mineo, Steven Mineo, Jo-Ann "Jody" Hindle, and Patricia Packer; as well as his beloved grandchildren and many extended family members and friends.

A celebration of life will be held at George W. Martin City Park in Gautier, MS, on Saturday, March 28th, 2026, at 1:00 p.m. No formal services are planned. While he will be deeply missed, Fred's family finds peace in knowing his faith is now made whole-reunited with loved ones and resting in the presence of the Lord.
