Frederick Miskell Obituary

Ezra Pound wrote: “The days are not full enough. The Nights are not full enough. Life slips by life a field mouse, not shaking the grass”

Fred Joe Miskell Shook the grass, leaving behind him a worn path that continues to fill the lives of others. He passed on June 5th, 2025, in his home, as his son read to him. He is survived by a family who loved him deeply. He spent his final years full of life, on the water, traveling, and working on their farm in Chimacum Washington, which he dubbed “The Miskell Estate,” and pointed out often that “We earned this by working together, a roof over our head.” Across our dinner table he left his son, Justin Miskell, his favorite daughter “that one lady” Heather Miskell, his grandchildren Gus, Koral, and Karolyn, and his friend and a fellow Grampa, Patrick Langley. He is also survived by his brother “Kenny” Miskell.

Fred fought the war in Vietnam as a Lance Corporal in the United States Marines, He was a pool player (nicknamed Fast Freddy from Cincinnati), a salmon fisherman, a tireless walker, and true admirer of nature. As a hunter, he is quoted as saying. “You don’t shoot ducks, we don’t understand what’s inside a duck.”

A memorial visitation for Fred and his brother, Butch, will be held Monday, July 14, 2025, from 12pm - 1pm followed by a service at Newcomer Cremation, Funerals and Receptions, 4350 Dixie Hwy, Erlanger, Kentucky 41018. Burial and military honors for Fred will follow at Independence Cemetery.

Frederick Joe Miskell's legacy of love, kindness, and community spirit will long be remembered by all who had the privilege to know him.
