Frederick Moran

Fred Moran departed this earth for Heaven on May 5th, 2025. He was born on October 3rd, 1946, to Frederick and Rita (Mulaney) Moran in Youngstown, Ohio. He graduated from Boardman H.S. in 1964, worked, and went to night school at Youngstown College. With the Vietnam War raging, and the draft looming, he enlisted in the Air Force in 1968. He met Nancy Pfouts in 1967 and they were married in 1969. In 1970 he spent a year in Vietnam at DaNang AFB. Returning home in 1971, he was reassigned to Kincheloe AFB in the UP, where he and Nancy lived until he was honorably discharged in 1972. He went to Lake Superior State College and graduated in 1975. In 1976 he accepted a job at the Federal Center in Battle Creek, MI, and worked there for 26 years retiring in 2003.
He is survived by Nancy, wife of 55 years, and their 2 children - Erin (Duane) VanStelle and Jonathan (Kirsten) Moran and their 4 grandchildren - Joshua and Emily VanStelle, Maya and Luke Moran. Also surviving are Fred's brothers Ed and Mike Moran of Youngstown, OH.
Fred loved Jesus Christ, was baptized in the 1980's, and in the last days spoke to Jesus frequently. He was a long time member of Journey Church (B.C. First Assembly of God).
He loved to golf and for many years was in the Saturday A.M. boys club at Binder Golf Course. He golfed many years in the Federal Center League. He and Nancy worked for 20 years with their friends, the Harrises and the Roots, putting the golf carts away at Binder. In return they enjoyed the use of free carts and golf! During, and since Covid, Fred and Nancy spent many Saturday evenings playing the card game of Golf, with their friends the Ecklunds. They wintered in Florida for 13 years.
The memorial service will be held on Saturday, May 17th at Journey Church, 800 S. 24th Street, Battle Creek, MI, at 1 pm, with visitation 1 hour before. Fred loved wearing casual attire along with his suspenders, and that's what we'd desire for people to wear to attend his memorial!! A light lunch will follow.
