Frederick James Poling

Frederick James Poling, 88, of Wheeling, WV, died Friday, February 28, 2025 at Liza's Place.
He was born January 25, 1937, in Pierce, WV, son of the late L. Clifton and Lillie Mae Waltz Poling.
Fred was a former employee of Nationwide Insurance Co. and Robinson Automotive Dealership. He was most recently employed by Oglebay Park at the Jones and Palmer golf courses, maintaining the flower baskets and show gardens. He was a member of Masonic Lodge AF & AM #1 and Order of the Eastern Star Walter Chapter #43. He was a man of deep faith and an active member of Stone United Presbyterian Church; his commitment to his church community was an important part of his life.
Fred enjoyed people and the outdoors.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Charles, Lloyd and John Poling; and one sister, Mary Alice Phillips.
He is survived by his loving wife of 64 years, Nancy Kackley Poling; children, Douglas (Diane) Poling of Columbus, OH and Amy (Arvel) Ooten of Newark, OH; two grandchildren, Andrew and Madison Poling; his little friends, Callie and Shellie; and several nieces and nephews.
Friends and family will be received Thursday, March 6, 2025 from 10 AM until the time of service at 1 PM with Rev. Margie Carr officiating at Stone United Presbyterian Church, 25 East Cove Ave., Wheeling (304-242-4610).
Interment will be held in Davis Cemetery, Davis, WV.
Fred will be remembered as a loving husband, father and grandfather whose presence brought warmth to those around him. May his memory bring comfort to all who knew him.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Stone United Presbyterian Church.
