Frederick Pottratz Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Sep. 30, 2025.
Frederick (Fred) V. Pottratz, 73, of Spokane WA. passed away September 23, 2025, after a long illness. He was born on June 3, 1952.

Fred graduated from Central High School in 1970 and went on to build a 44-year career at Auto Rain Sprinklers. He took great pride in his work. During the winter months Fred discovered a talent for welding and created beautiful and unusual pieces of metal art. When asked why he gave them to family and friends instead of selling them, he always said "if you do for money, it becomes a job and isn't fun".

He was married to Leilani Medina, for 36 years before her passing.

In 2014, Fred married Cindy Harrison. With Cindy he embraced the joys of becoming a grandpa.

Fred was preceded in death by his parents Willis and Agnes Pottratz, and sister Kristine Hansen.

He is survived by his loving wife Cindy and her children; Curtis, Christina, James, and his grandson Soyer (Rat). Fred also leaves behind his sister Annetta Pottratz (Lester Lanfear), brother Dennis Pottratz (Sheila), brother-in-law David Hansen, nephew Aaron (Kelly) Hansen, niece Jennifer (Jim) Jensen and great nieces Taeler, Kayley, Ella and Lillie.

Fred will be remembered for his childhood grin, quick wit and love of laughter. He had a way of making those around him smile and never lost his playful spirit.

A celebration of Life will be held on Saturday November 1, 2025, at 11:30 am, in Center Place at Mirabeau Park. A private burial will take place at Rosewood Cemetery.
