Mr. Frederick "Chub" Ritter, age 99, of Monroe Township, New Jersey peacefully passed early Tuesday morning at Princeton Hospital surrounded by his loved ones. He was born January 17, 1926 in Hightstown, New Jersey to William and Georgina Ritter.

Born during the Great Depression, he was a member of the greatest generation. "They stayed true to their values of personal responsibility, duty, honor and faith." He was the last surviving son of his eight brothers and sisters.

Fred was known for his compassion, sense of humor and stubbornness. He served in the Navy on the Howard Hubbard Destroyer during WWII from 1942 to 1944. He married his wife of 71 years, Anna (Kornas) Ritter in 1954 and raised their two daughters at their farm home in Cranbury, NJ. Fred enjoyed spending time with his family, and was known as Dedo to his granddaughters and his great-grandsons. He kept an amazing garden, growing more than he could give away. He also enjoyed days at the Monmouth Racetrack and trips to Atlantic City.

Fred is survived by his wife, Anna Ritter; his daughter, Donna Ritter (Jay); his two granddaughters, Kelsi Myers and Caitlin McKeown; as well as his great-grandsons, Henry, Tyler, and Ryan McKeown.

A private service will be held at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Monroe Meals on Wheels Program and Monroe First Aid.

Arrangements are under the direction of at A.S. Cole Son & Co., 22 North Main Street, Cranbury, NJ.
