Frederick was born on July 23, 1953, in Shreveport, LA to James Paul and Dorothy Rhodes Shaffer. He entered into rest on Saturday, January 11, 2025, in Arcadia, LA, with his loving family by his side.

Frederick was raised in Minden, Louisiana. Frederick and Judy married in 1974 and moved to Gibsland, Louisiana in 1975. There they raised their 3 children: Kelli, Fred, and Connie.

Frederick was employed by Grover Jones as a very young man after moving to Gibsland. He worked for Mr. Jones and later Richard Jones for over 30 years as a mechanic. During this time, Frederick grew very close to Mr. Jones and his family, and thought of them as family. He also worked as a truck driver and heavy equipment operator.

Frederick had a great love for hunting and fishing. He was a member of Dixie Hunting club for many years. He took great pride in taking care of the camp and the hunting dogs.

Frederick has made many friends along the way. Many of these friends he considered family. He was a great provider for his family, a wonderful husband, father and Paw-Paw. He loved his family dearly.

Frederick is preceded in death by his parents, James and Dorothy Shaffer and brother-in-law Ernest Hula. Left to cherish his memories are his wife, Judy Walker Shaffer; children, Kelli Page and husband Toby, Fred Shaffer, Jr., and Connie Coon and husband Heath; grandchildren, Jack, Allison, Jasmine, Dylan, Hunter, Andrea, Kelcie, Katie, Bella, and Harley; great grandchildren, Tadon and Layton; sisters, Diane Hula and Vickie Cormier and husband Wayne; brother, Ronnie Shaffer and wife Sharon; and by numerous nieces, nephews, and other loving family and friends.

Honoring Frederick as pallbearers will be Scott Kidd, Richard Jones, Jimbo Jones, Clint Carlisle, Jack Page, and Hunter Shaffer. Serving as honorary pallbearers will be Joe Kidd and Dylan Wall.
