Frederick Stamerjohn, 101, of Peoria, passed away on Tuesday, May 27, 2025 at Proctor Place Senior Living.
He was born October 25, 1923 to the late Elizabeth (Kiebach) and Carl J. Stamerjohn in Bartonville, IL. He married Marilyn A. Reeser on September 4, 1948 in Peoria, IL. She preceded him in death on January 15, 2023.
He is also preceded in death by his daughter, Tammy Booth; his sister, Elizabeth McCann; and his brothers, Glenn and Robert Stamerjohn.
He is survived by his children, David (Pat Palmer) Stamerjohn of Pekin, and Sandra (John) Harvey of Peoria; his son-in-law, Tim Booth of Canton, IL; his grandchildren, Jeff Stamerjohn of Wasilla, AK, Julia (Aaron) Graham of Santa Clara, CA, Karen (Chris) Hallowell of Avon, OH, Holly (Scott) McDonald of Dunlap, IL, Sara (Bart) Reed of Senoia, GA, Paige (Timothy) Christian of Canton, IL, and Ryan Booth of Naperville, IL; and 16 great grandchildren.
Frederick was a member of the United States Army Air Force Core during World War II. He was a proud patriot and was honored to fight for this country. He worked at Caterpillar as a planning superintendent for 44 years before retiring. He was an avid fisherman who enjoyed being outdoors. He would often be found in his garden during his spare time. Frederick enjoyed working with his hands as he was a wonderful wood craftsman. He also loved to bake when he could. Some of his favorite memories included playing cards with friends. Frederick will be dearly missed by many.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Salem Lutheran Endowment Fund.
A visitation will be held Thursday, June 5, 2025 at Salem Lutheran Church in Peoria, IL from 9:30-10:45 am. The funeral service will follow at 11:00am. A committal service with military honors will be held at Fondulac Cemetery in East Peoria after services. Deiters Funeral Home and Crematory in Washington is assisting the family with arrangements.
