Frederick Sturkie, affectionately known by his family and friends as "Butter Beans," "Bazal," and "Deputy Dog," was born April 27, 1962, in Anniston, Alabama, to Fannie Pearl Wiley and Olen Ford Sturkie. Frederick was a family man at heart. A true momma’s boy, he lovingly helped care for his siblings while his mother worked, always stepping in with compassion, love, and devotion. His commitment to family remained a central part of his life, and he continued to put loved ones first throughout the years.

Frederick attended Mifflin High School and later pursued his passion at Bliss College, where he majored in Interior Design and Fashion. His love for style, decorating, and shopping was well known to everyone who met him. Whether it was arranging a room, picking the perfect outfit, or finding just the right deal on a shopping trip, Frederick had a natural eye for design and detail.

Frederick was a man of many joys. He loved music and dancing, often the first to hit the dance floor at family events, bringing life and laughter wherever he went. He also enjoyed movies and television, especially his favorite shows, such as soap operas, Forensic Files, and Law & Order. His kitchen was often filled with the aroma of his cooking. Frederick was not only a passionate cook but an exceptionally good one. A lifelong Ohio State fan, Frederick proudly cheered on the Buckeyes. He took great pride in keeping a clean and neat home, a reflection of his attention to detail and love for creating comfortable spaces. Frederick also had a strong spiritual foundation, beginning each day by reading his Bible. He loved a good conversation and never shied away from a spirited debate, always bringing curiosity, humor, and thoughtful insight to every discussion

On Thursday, July 10, 2025, Frederick departed this life, leaving behind a legacy of love, laughter, and dedication to family and home.

He leaves to cherish his memory: His mother, Fannie Pearl Wiley; his father, Olen Ford Sturkie; his sisters, Linda Pearl Jordan, Cassandra Sturkie-Johns (Henry Johns), andJudy Sturkie-Washington (Jivan Washington); his brothers, Timothy Sturkie (KiscaSturkie), Jermaine Sturkie (Nakita Sturkie), Terrell Kelly, Travis Sturkie, and Tony Sturkie. He is also survived by a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends who loved him dearly. Fredrick, lovingly known as Butter Beans, Bazal, and Deputy Dog, will be remembered for his warm heart, vibrant spirit, and the joy he brought to all who knew him.
