Obituary published on Legacy.com by Egan-Ryan Funeral Service - Northwest Chapel on Dec. 10, 2025.
Kathleen (Kathy) Fisher Foley, age 87, went peacefully to the Lord on, December 4, 2025 at Mother Angeline McCrory Manor. She was born July 26, 1938 in Columbus, Ohio to her parents the late Anne (Ryan) Fisher and Colonel Earl J. Fisher. She is survived by her sister Joanne (Fisher) Hone and brother John Fisher. Preceded in death by beloved husband of 57 years, Patrick Joseph Foley, brothers-in-law John Hone, William Foley, Edward Foley, and Declan Foley, and sister-in-law Eileen Foley, we take comfort that they are reunited in heaven. She is survived by daughters Kathleen (Katy) Foley Coffey and her husband Donald and Kelly Foley Campbell and her husband George. Her legacy lives on in her six beloved grandchildren, whom she adored with her whole heart; John Corona-Coffey (Stephanie), Benjamin (Erin) Coffey, Joshua (Noelle) Coffey, Alexander Campbell, Zachary Campbell, and Anne Campbell. She also survives in the memory of her beloved sisters-in-law Linda Foley, Linda Scofield, and Kathleen Hojnacki and many cherished nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends who will miss her kindness and formidable spirit.
Kathy graduated from St. Mary of the Springs high school, Columbus, Ohio in 1956. She continued her education at St. Elizabeth School of Nursing in Dayton, Ohio, and College of St. Mary of the Springs (Ohio Dominican) in Columbus, Ohio with a Bachelors of Arts in English, then Georgetown University in
Washington, DC, public health studies, and finally Catholic University of America in Washington D.C. with a Masters in Nursing.
Kathy worked hard throughout her career as a staff nurse at the former St. Anthony's Hospital; assistant director of nursing services and instructor at Georgetown University Hospital; research associate and instructor The Ohio State University School of Nursing; editorial consultant Little, Brown & Co.; a nurse at Mohun Hall; social service representative and grant writer Joint Organization for inner-city needs (J.O.I.N.); and media specialist at St. Ladislas and Corpus Christi school. Her volunteer activities are too numerous to mention but highlights include helping found the St. Mary Magdalene food pantry and the Columbus chapter of Birthright. She also testified so often at committee hearings at the Ohio State House that, to this day, there's a file drawer with her name on it. She never knew a social justice cause that she wasn't passionate about and, if she was passionate about it, then she employed her prodigious brain and numerous skills to help right the wrong, help the needy, or encourage the righteous.
Her family would like to thank the Carmelite Sisters of the Aged and Infirm and the staff of Mother Angeline McCrory Manor for their care of our Kathy since 2022. We would also like to thank the staff of Danbury memory care unit in Westerville, Ohio for their care of Kathy 2021-2022. We would also like to give special thanks to the caregivers from Luminary Hospice for their gentle and loving care.
Kathy enjoyed her coffee black, her chocolate with nuts, and her pizza with vegetables. She was kind, gifted, and passionate. Her biggest pride and joy were her grandchildren. She enjoyed music her entire life and was known to blast the Metropolitan Opera live broadcasts every Saturday afternoon. She always had a project going whether it was ceramics, family history, or searching for Corning Ware at estate sales. She and her late husband, Pat, were members of the Christian Family Movement (CFM). In her later years she carried a word search book with her where ever she went. She was a fan of water aerobics at her local YMCA, before Alzheimer's robbed her of that activity. Even though Alzheimer's was a struggle, she charmed her caregivers and remained strong and feisty until the end. She is remembered as a consummate caregiver, resourceful advocate, and faithful Catholic, and most of all a loving Mother, wife, sister, aunt, and friend.
Her family will receive friends and family on Friday, December 19, 2025, from 6-8pm, at St. Mary Magdalene Church, 473 South Roy Ave., Columbus, Ohio 43204; Rosary will follow at 8pm. Her funeral Mass will be at 10:30 am on Saturday, December 20, 2025 at St. Mary Magdalene with a luncheon to follow. Interment ceremony will be at Resurrection Cemetery, Lewis Center, Ohio on Monday, December 22, 2025..
In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting donations to JOIN 578 East Main St., Columbus, Ohio 43215 or the St. Mary Magdalene Food Pantry c/o SMM 473 South Roys Ave., Columbus, Ohio 43204.
In her honor, have a donut, drink a whiskey sour, or right a wrong… don't be afraid to stand up for what you believe is right.
