Frederik T. "Fritz" Kroesen, 85, of Morocco, IN passed away Wednesday, Nov. 29, 2023 at Franciscan Health Lafayette East. He was born in The Hague, Netherlands on July 16, 1938, the son of Frederik Kroesen, Sr. and Jannetje (Boshuisen) Kroesen.
Fritz immigrated to the United States in 1957, settling in the St. Louis, MO area. He married Rose Wisnewski on Feb. 20, 1960 in Belleville, IL. She preceded him in death on June 5, 1990.
He worked as a food & beverage manager at various hotels in Chicago, IL. There he met Anna Putigna, whom he married on Aug. 24, 1996.
Fritz loved playing soccer and started playing as a boy in The Netherlands. He continued playing in America, and started the Belle-Claire Soccer League in Belleville, IL. He also enjoyed traveling. He and Anna owned an RV for a few years and enjoyed camping. They also went on a cruise every year for 20 years. Fritz had a good, soft heart, and he enjoyed spoiling his grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife, Anna M. Kroesen; three children: Anna Rose (Frank) Scheid, Christopher (Christina) Kroesen and Alyssa Putigna; three grandchildren: Andrew Scheid, Katherine Scheid and Willow Uelman; seven siblings: Jane (Ed) Windsor, Anna (David) Calvert, Theo Kroesen, Benno (Cherie) Kroesen, Aaltje (David) Close, Leendert (Betty) Kroesen and Violette Nast; and one sister-in-law, Irene Kroesen. Many nieces and nephews also survive.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Frederik and Jannetje Kroesen; his first wife, Rose Kroesen; two brothers, Jan Kroesen and George Kroesen; one sister, Hennie Bryant; and one brother-in-law, Gary Nast.
Visitation will be Tuesday, December 5, 2023 from 10 a.m. until time of funeral at 12 noon at Steinke Funeral Home of Morocco. Pastor Wayne Williams officiating. Burial will follow at Oakland Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to your local animal shelter. Steinke Funeral Home is honored to be handling the arrangements.
