Fredric H. Snavely

Fredric Holtzhouse Snavely, age 92, of Deming WA passed away peacefully on November 5, 2025. He was born on February 17, 1933 in Lancaster PA to the late Christian and Marian (Holtzhouse) Snavely of Lititz PA. Fred grew up in Lititz with his two brothers and two sisters. Upon graduating from then Lititz High School in 1952, Fred enlisted in the US Air Force as an aircraft mechanic. After completing basic training at Sampson, NY and mechanics training at Sheppard AFB Texas, Fred was stationed at the Rhein-Main Air Base near Frankfurt Germany where he served for three years.

After returning home from Germany, Fred met Judy A. (Mueller), a student at Linden Hall, Lititz and they were married on April 4, 1959. Though they divorced later in life, in 1963 Fred and Judy bought their small farm in Brunnerville PA where they farmed, gardened and taught the values of healthy living and a good work ethic to their two children. Fred resided on the property until his retirement in 1999. He was an active part of the Brunnerville Boy Scout troop for many years. After retiring as an industrial mechanic for Dart Container, he sold the farm and moved to Deming WA where he resided with his son, daughter-in-law, and two grandchildren for his remaining 26 years.

Fred was a man of few words and thought most people talked too much. He was gifted with his hands and was still in the shop welding and fabricating at 92. He had a passion for rebuilding old tractors, restoring old hit and miss engines and for collecting "useful junk". He could repair just about anything and his shop was filled with just about everything. He kept himself busy on the ranch building gates for the pastures, growing apple trees, maintaining the equipment and keeping an ever-watchful eye over his two grandchildren. If he wasn't in the shop and it was a sunny day, you would probably find him napping in one of the chairs he built and placed throughout the property. Fred was blessed with 92 years of good health.

At Fred's request, no services will be held and he will be laid to rest at the Saxon Cemetery in Acme WA.

Preceding Fred in death is his brother Christian Snavely, sister Mary Roth, and his former wife Judy (Mueller) Snavely. Fred is survived by his older sister Joanne Snavely, his younger brother Henry Snavely, daughter Kathleen Snavely, son David (Karin) Snavely, grandson Jarrod (Mackenzie) Snavely, granddaughter Hannah (Dennis) Gault and four great grandchildren Riley, Casen, Kade and Macie.
