Lester (Les) G. Snavely, age 89, of Mechanicsburg, died at home on Friday, September 12, 2025. Les was born on July 27, 1936, in Warrington Township to the late Harry Snavely and Helen Ruth (Sheriff) Snavely. In addition to his parents, Les is preceded in death by his daughter Vicki Snavely, and his brother Harry Snavely, Jr.

Lester’s survivors include his wife of 66 years, Catherine F. (Fogelsonger Mitchell) Snavely; his children: Tina Douglass and husband David of Schererville, IN; Monte Snavely and wife Pam of Mechanicsburg, PA; Vince Mitchell and wife Doris of Mechanicsburg, PA; his six grandchildren: Michael Douglass and wife Elisabeth, Meghan Terry and husband Caleb, Eric Douglass and wife Cara, Chad Snavely, Adam Snavely and wife Karli, Tori Renard and husband Tyler; his ten great-grandchildren: Evan Douglass, Eden Douglass, Judah Terry, Barrett Douglass, Quinn Douglass, Levi Renard, Lincoln Terry, Bria Douglass, Jace Renard, Kenna Douglass; his sister Lovina Knisley and husband Ron of Hanover, PA; and three nieces.

Lester graduated from Mechanicsburg Area High School as part of the class of 1954. He retired from Rogele, Inc. after 40 years of working as a foreman. For over 22 years, Les was a faithful member of Bible Baptist Church of York, where he served as an usher. He enjoyed road trips with his wife Catherine, having navigated the country from border to border, including annual family reunions on the North Carolina coast. Les also enjoyed his motorcycle, and his favorite pastime was watching sports featuring various Philadelphia teams. Les will be missed by his family and those who were fortunate enough to have known him.

All are welcome to join Lester’s family at the Visitation on Friday, September 19, 2025, from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon with the Celebration of Life Service at 12:00 p.m. at Bible Baptist Church of York, 4190 N. Susquehanna Trail, York, PA 17404. Les’ family invites everyone to join them for a time of food and fellowship at the church immediately following the service. Burial will take place on Monday, September 22, 2025, at 10:00 a.m., Woodlawn Memorial Gardens, 4855 Londonderry Road, Harrisburg, PA 17109.
