Leonard L. Zook Jr., affectionately known as "Lenny," passed away on November 5, 2025, in his beloved home in Mechanicsburg, Pennsylvania. Born on April 30, 1948, Lenny lived a life rich in family, passion and dedication.
A proud graduate of the Mechanicsburg Area School District in the class of 1968, Lenny dedicated more than 16 years to the Mechanicsburg School District before retiring in 2010. His career was defined not just by the work he did, but by the relationships he built and the positive impact he had on the lives of students and colleagues alike.
Lenny was not only a skilled professional, but was known for his remarkable ability to fix anything. If it was broken and Lenny couldn’t fix it, it simply couldn’t be fixed. This hands-on approach was a testament to his personality; he loved spending time with his family, constructing memories as well as objects. His talents did not stop at repairs. He enjoyed building small engines and had a fondness for motorcycles.
His interests and hobbies extended beyond his skills as a builder. Lenny had a heartfelt devotion to the Washington Redskins and cherished moments spent traveling to Walt Disney World. He also held a special admiration for Dale Earnhardt, Sr., showcasing the variety of things that brought him joy.
Lenny is survived by his beloved wife, Mary Zook; his sons, Len (Anita) Zook III and Alan Zook; and cherished grandchildren, Jillian and Jaxon Zook. He also leaves behind his siblings, Steve (Linda) Zook and his sister Sandy (Tony) Davenport, and numerous nieces and nephews, whose presence in his life was a source of connection and support.
Lenny's legacy is deeply rooted in his community engagement through his membership in the Sons of the American Legion Post 26 in Dillsburg, and the Williams Grove Historical Steam Engine Association, where he shared his passion with others.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Leonard Zook, Sr. and Helen (Vogelsong) Klinger, who were undoubtedly proud of the man their son became.
In honor of his memory and the love he brought into the lives of those around him, a memorial service will be held at Trindle Spring Lutheran Church in Mechanicsburg, Pennsylvania. Friends and family are invited to celebrate Lenny's life on November 11, 2025, at 11:00 AM, followed by a reception at 12:00 PM. He will be remembered not just for his accomplishments, but for the love he shared and the joyful spirit he brought into every moment spent with family and friends. The imprint of Lenny's life on the hearts of many will remain forever cherished.
