Fredrick Coons Obituary
Fred was born on November 22, 1952, in Howell, Michigan, to Earl and Ruth (Leake) Coons. He served in the US Army during the Vietnam War. He retired from Ford Motor Company, where he had worked in the shipping department. After retirement, Fred moved to Houghton Lake. He enjoyed traveling to Florida in the winter months. Fred enjoyed socializing with his friends; he also enjoyed golfing, playing pool, and cruising the lake on the pontoon.
Fred is survived by his mother, Ruth Coons of Houghton Lake, brother, Chuck (Linda) Coons, of Washington, companion, Jan Toms, and a host of friends. He was preceded in death by his father, Earl Coons.
Per Fred's wishes, cremation has taken place, and a Celebration of Life will be held in May 2026. Interment will be at Roscommon Township Cemetery, Houghton Lake. Memorial contributions in memory of Fred are asked to be directed to Houghton-Higgins Lake Elks 1982. Christler Funeral Home-Prudenville Chapel is serving the family.
