Fredrick Alan Curtis, known affectionately as Fred, was born on June 19, 1938, in San Francisco, California. He passed away peacefully on December 10, 2025, in Ogden, Utah, at the George E Wahlen Veterans Home, leaving behind a legacy of love, laughter, and many cherished memories.
He honorably served in the US Air Force, a commitment that reflected his strong sense of duty and patriotism. Fred devoted a significant part of his professional life to serving as an electronic maintenance technician at Thiokol for 39 years, where his skills were not just a job but a passion that showcased his technical expertise and dedication.
Fred married his sweetheart, Laura Marguerite Ball in Blackfoot Idaho on June 20, 1959.
Fred was a vibrant member of the community, engaging in various hobbies and interests that highlighted his adventurous spirit and creativity. As a proud member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, he found joy in building connections with others. His love for archery led him to join the archery club, while his fondness for the outdoors saw him take part in camping, hunting and water skiing adventures. Fred was a member of Good Sam's RV. Fred was an active participant in the Bear River Muzzleloaders and Golden Spike Motorcycle Club, where he embraced camaraderie with fellow enthusiasts. His artistic side flourished through woodworking and knife making, endeavors that brought warmth and beauty to the lives of those around him.
Family was at the heart of Fred’s world. He is survived by his beloved wife, Laura Curtis, who stood beside him in all of life's journeys. They created a home filled with joy and unconditional love. Fred is also survived by his his daughters, Laurie (Dave) Hansen and Christine (Dave) Beaver and son, Craig (Pat) Curtis, He took great pride in his family, often sharing laughter and wisdom with them. His brother, Zane (Mary) Curtis, and sisters, Lona (Kay) Fox and Kaye (Ken) Hutten, held a special place in his heart, reflecting the deep bonds of love that tied them together. He also leaves three grandkids and nine great grandkids.
Fred's heart also carried the sorrow of losing a son, Tracy Curtis, along with his parents, Veral Curtis and Matilda Niehaus and Oral and Alice Curtis who preceded him in death.
In honoring Fred's life, there will be a viewing held on December 15, 2025, from 11:00 AM to 12:45 PM at Gillies Funeral Chapel in Brigham City, Utah. This will be followed by a graveside service at the Brigham City Cemetery, starting at 1:00 PM. Family and friends are invited to gather and celebrate the life of a remarkable man who touched the hearts of many, and whose spirit will forever be remembered.
Fred's journey may have concluded, but the love he shared will endure through the lives he impacted. In our memories, Fred will always remain a steadfast beacon of kindness, joy, and familial devotion.
