Fredrick Allen Munch, beloved father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and friend, passed away peacefully on July 22, 2025, in Stuart, Florida, at the age of 82.
Born on May 27, 1943, in Chicago, Illinois, Fred lived a life defined by service, dedication, and love for his family. A proud veteran, he served his country honorably in the United States Air Force during the Vietnam War as a fuel specialist. Following his military service, Fred built a successful career as a certified aircraft mechanic and an aerospace engineer with Pratt & Whitney, where his work helped shape advancements in aviation technology.
Fred identified as Catholic and carried a quiet sense of faith throughout his life. He found joy in simple pleasures especially racing, animals, traveling the world, and spending time with his family. He was known for his strong presence, quick wit, and unwavering loyalty to those he loved.
He is preceded in death by his beloved wife, Carolyn Williams-Munch; his daughter, Lera Osterhoudt; his mother, Loretta Munch Babb; and his grandparents, Lawrence Joseph Munch and Mary LaCerra Munch.
He is survived by his ex-wife, Peggy Munch; his son, Lawrence Munch (Sharon); and his grandchildren: Bret Osterhoudt (Jennifer), Michael Munch (Angie), Chad Osterhoudt (Megan), Bobby Dean Osterhoudt (Erin), Marla Munch (Tyler), and Madison Munch.
Fred was a proud great-grandfather to 11 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his brother, Harry Babb; his stepdaughter, Ginger Texiera-Richmond; and his step-granddaughter, Katie Richmond.
A memorial gathering will take place on Friday, August 1, 2025 from 12 – 1 pm with a memorial service at 12 pm at Forest Hills Funeral Home, 2001 SW Murphy Road, Palm City, Florida, where military honors will also be presented. Fred will privately be laid to rest at South Florida National Cemetery in Lake Worth, Florida at a later date.
Fred's legacy lives on in the hearts of all who knew him. He will be remembered for his strength, sharp mind, and the deep love he held for his family.
