Fredrick Phillip Schillinger, Jr. age 92, a native of Akron, Ohio and longtime resident of Ocean Springs, MS., passed away on May 19, 2023, at his home in Ocean Springs.
Fred was preceded in death by his loving and devoted wife of over 70 years, Delia Gibson Schillinger; his father, Fredrick Phillip Schillinger, Sr., and his mother, Bertha Sisler Schillinger; a son, David Schillinger, a daughter, Cheryl Schillinger; sister, Mary Yakubik; sisters in law, Renee and Irene; and brother-in-law, Tom.
Fred is survived by his children, Mike Schillinger (Tammi), and Louise Appelhans (Gordon Manni); siblings, Mike Schillinger (Sharon) of Seattle, WA., Stephen Schillinger, of Akron, OH., Charles Schillinger of Daytona, FL., and Rosalie Zaratsian of Akron, OH; and his grandchildren, Michael, Sam, Robert, T. J., Janie (Max), and Matthew along with a host of nieces, nephew’s other relatives, his St. Alphonsus church family and dear friends.
Fred attended high school in Akron and later joined the U.S. Air Force, he came to MS through the civil service and after retirement he went to work at Chevron and worked another 16 years before retiring one final time. He then enjoyed working in his garden, tinkering around with his electronics, painting and Cruzin The Coast. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
A visitation will be held at The Riemann Family Funeral Home, 13872 Lemoyne Blvd. in West Jackson County on Friday, May 26, 2023 from 10:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. A procession will then take Mr. Schillinger to St. Alphonsus Catholic Church on Jackson Ave. in Ocean Springs for a Mass of Christian Burial to be Celebrated at 1:00 p.m. with Father Mike Snyder as the Celebrant. A procession will immediately follow Mass to Crestlawn Memorial Park Cemetery in Ocean Springs, with Full Military Honors being rendered. The Riemann Family Funeral Home, 13872 Lemoyne Blvd., in West Jackson County is proudly serving the family.
