Freida Kahle Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Rindt-Erdman Funeral Home and Crematory on Aug. 7, 2024.
Freida Marie Kahle, 82, longtime resident of Arkansas City, passed away Monday, August 5, 2024, at the Presbyterian Manor Health Care Unit. Cremation has been effected. A Celebration of Life is scheduled for 10:00 a.m. Saturday, August 10, 2024, at the Rindt-Erdman Funeral Home Chapel. Her brother, Jake Clover will officiate. Friends may greet the family from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Friday evening at the funeral home. A private family internment will be held at a later date.
Freida was born December 15, 1941, to Howard R. and Elva M. (Crawford) Clover in Nash, OK. She grew up attending elementary school in Newkirk and high school in Kaw City. She graduated from Kaw City High School in 1959. After high school she attended Ponca City Business School. During her earlier years, Freida thrived in FFA and 4-H. She won many trophies and ribbons for showing her calves.
On September 25, 1963, Freida married the love of her life, Gary M. Kahle in Tulsa, OK. The couple made their home in Arkansas City. Freida had a passion for going fishing with Gary and was his number one supporter in all that he did. She was his best promoter for the artwork that he did throughout the years.
Freida started work for the ACS office in Newkirk, then transferred to Adams Elementary and worked as the secretary for several years. Freida then went to work for the Kansas Department of Human Resources where she shined, working as the manager for 35+ years until her retirement.
Although Freida held many job titles and positions throughout her career, she was a homemaker at heart, and it showed. Freida took pride in caring for her family as much as she could. She was a skilled seamstress and sewed not only her own outfits, but outfits, clothing, and many costumes for her grandchildren. Her grandchildren were her hobby on most Saturday nights, whether it be a movie and popcorn night, or a pillow fight night, she was always ready and prepared for them. Freida was known for her famous homemade chicken and noodles, (especially her noodles), her famous Christmas candy trays, and her homemade cheese cake. She would also prepare food and snacks to take with them wherever they would go. Freida cherished her family and spending time with them, especially her grandchildren.
Survivors include her loving husband of 60 years, Gary Kahle of Arkansas City; daughter Shari Kielhorn and husband David of Ponca City; brother Jake Clover of Arkansas City; grandchildren Kasey Kielhorn and wife Rhiannon of Thornton, CO; Kyle Kielhorn and wife Amber of Arkansas City; great-grandchildren Natalie, Konnor, Michael, Charlie, Eric, and River Kielhorn, and Adam Hull; a brother-in-law Duane Kahle and wife Bonnie of Wilmington, NC; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and extended family.
Freida was preceded in death by her parents.
A memorial has been established for the Good Shepherd Hospice or the University of Kansas Medical Center Burn Center in Kansas City, KS. Contributions may be made through the funeral home. Arrangements are under the direction of the Rindt-Erdman Funeral Home & Crematory. Online condolences may be made at www.rindt-erdman.com.
