Theresa Nugent Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Mercer-Adams Funeral Service on Mar. 30, 2026.
Theresa Ann Isaman Nugent, known to everyone as Terrie, passed away on February 22, 2026, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, at the age of 76.

Born on September 10, 1948, in Winfield, Kansas, Terrie was raised in Arkansas City, where she graduated from Arkansas City High School in 1967. From an early age, she carried a presence that people were drawn to. She had a natural ability to connect, a sense of humor that put people at ease, and a personality that could light up any room she walked into. Terrie never met a stranger, and more importantly, she never let anyone feel like one.

Terri was the daughter of Byron "Bye" Isaman and Mildred "Peg" Isaman, both of whom preceded her in death. She shared a lifelong bond with her brother, Greg Isaman, built on humor, resilience, and a relationship that could handle both laughter and the occasional chaos that defined their family dynamic.

Terrie began her professional life as a hairstylist after completing her cosmetology training in Wichita, Kansas. Her life took her across multiple states, before ultimately settling in Oklahoma City, where she built her life, her business, and her community. But she was never someone who stayed in one lane. Following the oil bust in the mid-1980s, Terri made a bold pivot and reinvented herself, earning a certification in floral design at OSU Tech. What started as a small operation in her garage grew into "A Touch of Silk," a business she co-founded alongside her mentor and partner, Barbara, and helped build for more than 33 years.

She was not just a business owner. She was a creator. Terrie had a rare ability to see beauty where others did not and turn it into something tangible. Her work reflected who she was. Vibrant, thoughtful, and full of life.

At her core, Terrie was love, fire, and life. She was outgoing to the point that it became her signature. Whether it was a room full of strangers, a quick trip to the store, or a conversation that started with "Girrrl…" or ended with a "Terrism," like "he's crazier than a two-pecker owl," it always seemed to end in laughter. She had a way of making people feel comfortable, known, and included. People were drawn to her because she was real. There was no pretense, no hesitation. Just presence.

Terri loved her backyard and took pride in making it a place of beauty and peace where she would be visited by an occasional cardinal, which she knew was her mother checking in on her. She enjoyed creating, whether through gardening, crafts, or the countless ways she found to make something ordinary, feel extraordinary. Her home was not just a place. It was an extension of who she was.

More than anything, Terrie was devoted to her family. She was most proud of her children and grandchildren and the life she helped build around them. She was part of a blended family that she embraced fully, believing that family was not about lines or labels, but about connection. She made sure people felt included, supported, and part of something bigger than themselves.

Terrie lived by a simple but powerful principle that she passed down to her children and grandchildren: "If you do not like your situation, make a plan and work the plan. Never take the easy route, and never rely on someone else to build your life for you."

That mindset defined her.

Terrie will be remembered for her strength. She fought cancer with determination and grit, never complaining and never losing her spirit. Even in the face of adversity, she remained the same person people always knew. Strong. Humorous. Full of life.

Terrie is survived by her husband, David Nugent, whom she married on June 20, 2004, after the two met through a mutual friend and, from their very first date, found something special and lasting, remaining inseparable ever since. She is also survived by her children, Chad and Blake Robl, Skip and Teale Strickland, Christie Strickland, Debbie Palmer, David Nugent Jr. and Patricia Stephens; along with her grandchildren, Caden and Alanis Robl, Carson Robl, Benjamin Nugent, Nicholas Nugent, Jessica Stephens - Hood, Kenneth Stephens; her great-grandchildren, Landry Wilson and Sydnie Hood; and extended family and friends who became family over the years.

Terrie leaves behind a legacy that cannot be measured in titles or timelines. It is found in the people she impacted, the laughter she created, the strength she demonstrated, and the way she made others feel.

She lived fully. She loved deeply. And she made life better for the people around her.

A celebration of Terri's life will be held on Friday, April 3, 1:00pm, at Mercer-Adams Funeral Service Chapel in Bethany, OK.
